Ipod Shuffle
March 23rd, 2005
I bought a 1 Gig Ipod Shuffle several weeks ago and am surprised at how good it sounds. It definitely sounds better than my 3rd Generation Ipod. The highs are more natural and the bass is solid and undistorted. The best thing is the size and battery life. I wear it around my neck at the gym. My music library is over 9 Gigs but I only put the music I think I will listen to on the shuffle. I never hear the same song over a week of working out.
I think that most hard disk based mp3 players would have jitter problems when you are working out or moving around causing the error correction circuitry to work overtime, reducing battery life and sound quality. The flash memory based shuffle does not have these issues… maybe that explains some sound quality advantages over the Ipod.
